ProMath 2016

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 18th conference on Problem Solving in Mathematics Education, ProMath 2016, organized by the University of Zadar, Croatia (supported by the University of Potsdam). The conference will be held from September 07th to September 09th, 2016 in the Department of Teacher and Preschool Teacher Education (Ulica dr. Franje Tuđmana 24i).


Aim of the conference

The aim of the conference is to provide a discussion forum and to present research results in the field of problem solving. In the ProMath spirit we will provide enough time to engage in in-depth discussions after each presentation.

The theme for the conference is

Opportunities and Challenges of Teaching through Problem Solving.

 

Call for papers

Papers may be of two types:

  • research papers, that have a rigorous theoretical underpinning (empirical, theoretical, or developmental papers), or
  • papers from teachers and others practitioners on research and/or experimental work, that has been done in the classroom.

The conference will be held in English.

If you plan to participate at the ProMath 2016 conference, the registration form must be in the hands of the organizers no later than July 1st, 2016.
If you are interested in presenting a research report, an abstract and a title of your presentation have to be submitted no later than May 15th, 2016.

Conference proceedings

Proceedings of the conference will be published in spring of 2017 in “Magistra Iadertina“ after a peer reviewing process. "Magistra Iadertina" is a scientific journal published by the Department of Teacher and Preschool Teacher Education at the University of Zadar, Croatia (http://hrcak.srce.hr/magistra-iadertina?lang=en).

We would be happy if everyone could contribute to the planned journal.

Please note the following dates:

  • today - Dec 1st, 2016: Submission of papers. Please note the length of the paper: maximum of 25 pages for papers related to presentations, 6-8 pages for papers related to posters. Papers should be sent to kuzle@uni-potsdam.de and mcindric@unizd.hr
  • Dec 1st, 2016 - Feb 1st, 2017: Review process. Every paper will be reviewed by two other researchers, who attended ProMath 2016.
  • Feb 1st, 2017 - March 1st, 2017: Revision of papers
  • April 1st, 2017: Decision about the acceptance of the paper
  • April 15th, 2017: Check of the final paper (formatting) by the authors
  • May 1st, 2017: Publication of the journal

Use APA 6 th edition when writing your paper. The fine-tuning will be done by the editors after reviewing and revising the papers.


Travel Information

The airport of Zadar is served by flights from many cities in Europe. Further travel and tourist information is available here. Alternatively you can fly into Split or Zagreb and then take a bus till Zadar. The travel takes about 3,5 hours and costs ca. 12-20€ one-way. You can find more detailed information here.


Accommodation

There are some hotels on and in the vicinity of the university campus, that we have reserved for the ProMath participants. You are more then welcome to find the accommodation on your own, but be aware that this is still time of high season in Zadar, and that the hotels in the center may be booked and/or are rather expensive.
